Turkey, having intensified its activities in the field of space technology, is keeping the pulse of the world from space with the observation satellites Rasat, Gokturk-1 and Gokturk-2.

Turkey has 6 satellites in total, being 3 communication satellites and 3 observation satellites. Turksat 3A, Türksat 4A and Türksat 4B satellites meet the communication needs, while Rasat, Göktürk-1 and Göktürk-2 satellites are used for observation.

Rasat, the first earth observation satellite designed and manufactured in Turkey, was launched from Russia on 17 August 2011. Rasat, which can take images from all over the world without any restrictions, transmits these images to the ground station in TUBITAK Space. The images obtained from Rasat are used in cartography, disaster monitoring, smart agriculture, environment, urban planning and planning.

Rasat has performed 2 thousand 716 tasks successfully.

Rasat, which took the image of the area of totally 14 million 956 thousand 200 square kilometers across the world during its time in the space, has performed 2 thousand 716 tasks successfully.

Rasat, which has been working successfully for 8 years although its design life is 3 years, has toured around 40 thousand 855 times in the orbit of the earth.

The Rasat satellite is located in a solar synchronous circular orbit, at an altitude of 700 kilometers, and works with 7.5 meters of black and white, 15 meters of multi-band spatial resolution pushbroom camera.
