Russia withdraws troops exercising in Crimea

Russia is withdrawing its troops exercising illegally annexed Crimea and around the Kerch Strait to permanent positions.

In a statement made by the Russian Ministry of Defense, it was stated that as of today, the Southern Military Region troops and airborne troops have started to return to their permanent deployment from the area where they are exercising.

In the statement, which was recorded that military units and formations are currently going to railway loading stations and airports, it was stated that loading was made to landing ships, railway platforms and military transport aircraft.

In the statement, it was stated that the weapons, military vehicles and units of the Caspian Navy and the Black Sea Navy were mostly loaded on the landing ships, and it was emphasized that the combined work of the soldiers to their permanent positions continued.

In the statement, it was noted that the Russian Airborne Troops and Chemical Protection Units of the Southern Military District continued to leave Crimea.

Russia started military exercises

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu stated that on April 6, the Russian military forces started inspections on the readiness for war and announced that tactical exercises will be held in various regions of the country.

Within the scope of the training plan, it was stated that 4 thousand 48 military exercises will be carried out in April.

It was announced that Russia's warships belonging to the fleet in the Caspian Sea were sent to the Black Sea within the framework of the supervision of Russian military forces.

It was reported that a military unit from Russia's Southern Military District was deployed from the North Caucasus to Crimea as part of the exercise.

On April 22, Russia, the Black Sea fleet and the warships belonging to the Caspian navy started to carry out the main phase of the military exercise around the Kerch Strait in Crimea with the participation of other military units.

On the same day, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced that the exercises of the troops in the southern and western military regions of Russia had ended and the soldiers would withdraw.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky welcomed Russia's announcement that it will withdraw its troops to the border to their permanent positions.
