A new engine will be added to current engines which are developed in order to meet the needs of national air platform in Turkey.
Tusas Engine Industries, Inc (TAI), Turkey's aviation engine center, expands their projects carried out to end on foreing dependency and to respond to emerging needs.
The PD 155 turbo diesel engine developed by TEI in order to improve Anka, has successfully completed the flight tests and introduced Anka to the sky.
PD170, which will provide more power and altitude capability for new generation UAVs, left 3 thousand hours in endurance tests. While the integration of the engine to the Anka was completed, the runway and taxi tests were also carried out successfully.
PD170, which has reached to its maturity level to begin flight tests with resistance tests and continuously improved design solutions, is expected to fly Anka in the coming days with the completion of the necessary procedures of TUSAS. TEI also received its first order for mass production of the PD170.
The PD170 is shown as a leader in its class with its 170 horsepower on the altitude power provided at 20 thousand feet and is one of the best in its class about its fuel consumption and power-to-weight ratio.
210 hp a new engine
TEI is getting to ready to implement a new project related to UAVs, gained to agenda in Turkey and needed for higher engine power with the experinece gained from the mentioned engine development projects.
Preliminary works on the 210-horsepower PD210 engine, which is planned to be developed as the upper version of the PD170 engine, has started.
During the development of the PD170 engine, it was attempted that the block engine designed to support 210 horsepower which is predicted as a potential requirement, to verify the resistance to 210 hp pressure and temperature conditions and to identify the points that could be developed at other sub-systems. For this purpose, one PD170 engine prototype was calibrated to give a maximum power of 210 hp.
In short term tests, the cylinder internal pressure, exhaust gas temperature and turbo compressor output temperature optimizations were performed at 210 hp. After this optimization, where the basic mechanical limits of the engine are not exceeded, the scope of the PD210 project will be defined with the test of the withstand at maximum load.
The PD210 engine development project is planned to be launched in a short period of time, while meeting with potential customers for the mentioned engine.
The PD210 engine development project is planned to be launched in a short period of time, meanwhile it has been negotiated with potential customers for the mentioned engine.
