Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, visited the ITU, the opening will present a significant contribution to the short time remaining and defense industry in Turkey, especially the first large cavitation tunnel, Horse Speech Ship Model Testing Laboratory, Satellite Communications and Remote Sensing APPL-AR Center Made observations at the Intelligent Aviation and Space Applications Research Center of Innovative Technologies.
Varank, who also visited the National Membrane Technologies Research Center and Nano Technology and Research Center, went to ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu accompanied him.
Ministers Varank, first ITU Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences designed and built Turkey's first large-scale in large cavitation tunnel (ITU CAT) investigations found.
Providing information about the tunnel during the visit, Assoc. Dr. Uğur Oral Ünal said that the cavitation tunnel will allow detailed hydrodynamic and hydroacoustic tests to be carried out in an environment with high flow regularity and low turbulence level, and pressure can be changed in a controlled manner, of all types of surface and underwater marine vessels and propulsion systems.
Ünal emphasized that the tunnel, which will enable comprehensive performance, noise and flow imaging tests of platforms such as torpedoes, submarines, warships and unmanned vehicles, which are critical in the defense industry, will be among the world's top 10 test centers in terms of technical features. .
Noting that the cavitation tunnel was financed with the support of ASELSAN within the framework of the "Technology Acquisition Obligation" (TQM) program of the Defense Industry Presidency, Ünal said that the tunnel is expected to be put into service from the summer months.
Received information about the projects, met with students
Visiting the Ata Nutku Ship Model Experiment Laboratory, Varank sanded the model boats here.
Varank, who also made examinations at the Satellite Communication and Remote Sensing UYG-AR Center, received information from the authorities about the activities of the center, image allocation, and the projects it has implemented and planned to date.
During the visit to the Intelligent Aviation and Space Applications Research Center of Innovative Technologies, Minister Varank was given a presentation about the center.
Visiting the center and getting information about the projects implemented here, Varank met with students, assistants and faculty members. Varank examined the UAV projects that were awarded in the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival TEKNOFEST and in the competition in the USA.
Minister in the statement after visiting Varank, noting that ITU is among Turkey's brand universities, "the next period, as well as increase both the quality of education our teacher to be a university that can do more research to bring the voice worldwide (ITU Rector Prof. Dr. . İsmail Koyuncu) we met. " said.
Varank stated that they will continue to work in close cooperation with the university as the Ministry of Industry and Technology in order for ITU to allocate more time and opportunities for R&D activities in the upcoming period.
"One of Turkey's most important technopark here. Would do in terms of ITU's technopark in the period ahead, we pass over the future plans. R & D is very important. The way to make Turkey's economy more value-added R & D is going through to make more investments This is, of course, a work to be done with R&D centers and universities. The Intelligent Aviation and Space Applications Research Center of Innovative Technologies, which we are currently in, is one of the research centers that carry out very important projects in this sense and bring important funds from the EU to our country. They are also making preparations for the competitions they will participate in the coming period. They had important successes in TEKNOEST before. They are preparing to be successful in the world in the future. "
"We will undertake very important works with our young researchers"
Varank, the Minister of Industry and Technology, stated that they are planning to do with ITU, especially in the lunar mission, within the scope of the National Space Program, and said that they have held talks about this and visited the infrastructure of the university related to the project.
Noting that a very important infrastructure in terms of defense industry was completed with the support of the Ministry of Development and now the Strategy Budget Directorate, Varank made the following statements:
"We will be able to test very critical products such as torpedoes in the cavitation tunnel in the coming period. We also visited there. We are talking about a really strong infrastructure. Universities are one of our most important stakeholders within the scope of the National Technology Move. ITU is one of them. Our young researchers together with very important works in the coming period. We will sign. "
"Studies on deep space mission started at ITU"
ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Ismail Koyuncu the deep space with Turkey Space Agency stating that the work for the mission, said the ITU in Turkey Space Agency said that the establishment of an operations center.
Koyuncu, "Currently, we have already started the work on this issue. Under the leadership of our Ministry of Industry and Technology Space Agency, we signed a protocol with Turkey on this issue. In the coming period we will begin to see the results of it." said.
Expressing that there are many centers at the university, Koyuncu explained that very important studies such as mini UAVs and cube satellites are carried out in the space and aviation center they are located.
Referring to the ITU National Membrane Technologies Research Center within the university, Koyuncu said, "In this center, many local and national technologies are produced, such as filters that purify sea water, and filters that recycle waste water. We are R&D universities. We will continue to add value to our country's R&D ecosystem as a technical university in the coming period. " found in the description.
