Ranking third in the country in defense industry exports, Konya aims to crown its success by raising its position to the next level with ASELSAN investment.
Having an important position in the country with its agricultural production, Konya has also attracted attention with its success in the air and defense industry in recent years.
According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Konya, which was the 4th city in the defense industry with 153 million 452 thousand dollars, increased its exports by 171 percent compared to the previous year.
Continuing its rapid rise this year, Konya increased its exports by 445.2 percent in the first quarter, and showed the highest increase in exports among the top 5 cities it competed in.
Konya's export, which was 17 million 802 thousand dollars in the first quarter of 2020, increased to 97 million 61 thousand dollars in the same period of this year.
With this success, Konya ranked 3rd in defense and aviation industry exports, after Istanbul (273 million dollars) and Ankara (113 million 270 thousand dollars).
Konya's share in the sector's exports increased from 3.69 percent to 15 percent.
Trial productions increasingly continue in ASELSAN Konya
Konya Chamber of Industry (KSO) President Memiş Kütükcü said that the upward momentum in the sector is also reflected in export figures.
Reminding that they ranked 4th in the country in 2020 in the export of the defense industry, Kütükcü said, "As the chamber, we are working intensively in this field. We want to increase our power in the defense industry in terms of production and export. In this regard, defense industry peaks, fairs and 'B2B' online and bilateral business meetings. We also increased the awareness in the defense industry significantly. This was directly reflected in both production and exports. " he spoke.
